MARKETING STUDIO SETUP GUIDE
Set up OpenRouter for Marketing Studio
Create an account, add credit, make a key, set a spending limit and paste the key into your site.
1. What it does in Marketing Studio
Text captions: yes. AI photos: yes, with image models (depends on the model). Product scenes: no. Video: no. In Marketing Studio choose the preset “OpenRouter”. OpenRouter is a router: one key reaches models from many providers.
Pictures
One OpenRouter key covers text and pictures. Pictures use OpenRouter’s image endpoint (/api/v1/images). AIPF tested it on 17 October 2026 with google/gemini-2.5-flash-image and recraft/recraft-v4.1-flash, 1024x1024 each. In Marketing Studio, open Settings (or the Studio’s Settings panel) and choose “Load models from your account”. The list shows the image models. OpenRouter prices differ for each model and the plugin cannot read a per-picture price, so enter your own price per picture to see cost estimates.

OpenRouter is credit-based: you buy credits on the Credits page and requests use them. Some models are offered free, with their own request limits, and buying credits raises those limits. If your credit balance goes negative, you may see errors.

Open the Keys page and create a key. OpenRouter lets you give an individual key its own credit limit, so create a key just for Marketing Studio.

OpenRouter supports an optional spending cap on each API key (a per-key credit limit, which can reset on a schedule). Set one when you create the key, or edit the key later on the Keys page. Your credit balance is a second limit: requests fail when it cannot cover them.

In WordPress go to Marketing Studio > Settings > AI, turn on AI captions, choose the provider preset named above, paste the key into the API key field and save. Marketing Studio stores the key on your own website and sends requests straight from your site to the provider. Nothing is sent to us. You can also change settings from inside the Studio: choose the gear “Settings” in the left rail, or the ••• menu and then Settings.
7. Where your data is processed
Your request is forwarded to the provider behind the model you choose, so where it is processed depends on that model and provider. OpenRouter’s privacy documentation says it does not store prompts and responses unless you opt in, and that it records metadata such as token counts. Check the model’s provider if location matters to you.
