Set up Mistral for Marketing Studio
Create an account, add credit, make a key, set a spending limit and paste the key into your site.
1. What it does in Marketing Studio
Text captions: yes. AI photos: yes. Product scenes: no. Video: no. In Marketing Studio choose the preset “Mistral (EU provider)”. Choose Mistral if you want an EU-based provider for text and pictures.
Pictures
One Mistral key covers text and pictures. Pictures are made by Mistral’s built-in image_generation tool, which Mistral says is powered by Black Forest Labs FLUX1.1 [pro] Ultra. In AIPF’s test on 17 October 2026, mistral-small-latest with this tool returned a 1024x768 JPEG. Mistral’s pricing page lists no separate per-image price, so check your usage in the Mistral console. Mistral has no video.

Mistral’s documentation describes a Free mode with limited usage and rate limits, which is where a new account starts. For higher use, set up billing in the Admin Panel under Subscriptions and Billing.

Open Studio, go to API Keys in the left sidebar and choose Create new key. Give it a name and an expiry date, and copy the key straight away: the full key is shown only once. Each workspace has its own keys, so you can create a workspace just for Marketing Studio and keep its usage and billing apart.

Mistral lets you set a monthly budget per workspace. Open the Admin Panel, go to Subscriptions and Billing, and under the workspace choose Set limit. Enter an amount in USD. When the workspace reaches it, API requests return a 429 error until the next billing cycle.
Set usage limits ↗6. Paste the key into Marketing Studio
In WordPress go to Marketing Studio > Settings > AI, turn on AI captions, choose the provider preset named above, paste the key into the API key field and save. Marketing Studio stores the key on your own website and sends requests straight from your site to the provider. Nothing is sent to us. You can also change settings from inside the Studio: choose the gear “Settings” in the left rail, or the ••• menu and then Settings.
7. Where your data is processed
Mistral AI is a French company. Its privacy policy says it prioritises hosting providers inside the European Union and uses non-EU providers only in exceptional cases that meet its standards. Read its privacy policy and data-processing terms to confirm what applies to your account.
