Set up DeepSeek for Marketing Studio

Create an account, add credit, make a key, set a spending limit and paste the key into your site.

1. What it does in Marketing Studio

Text captions: yes. Photos, product scenes and video: no, text only. In Marketing Studio choose the preset “DeepSeek”. Read the data section first: DeepSeek processes data in China.

3. Billing, credit and free tier

DeepSeek works with a topped-up balance, and some accounts get a granted balance, which is used first. Top up on the platform before using the API. The documentation does not describe an ongoing free tier.

4. Create an API key

Open the API keys page on the platform and create a key. Copy it when it is shown.

5. Set a hard spending limit at the provider

I did not find a separate spending-limit setting in DeepSeek’s documentation. The practical limit is your balance: when it runs out, requests fail with a 402 “Insufficient Balance” error. Top up only small amounts and do not enable anything that tops up automatically, if the platform offers it.

6. Paste the key into Marketing Studio

In WordPress go to Marketing Studio > Settings > AI, turn on AI captions, choose the provider preset named above, paste the key into the API key field and save. Marketing Studio stores the key on your own website and sends requests straight from your site to the provider. Nothing is sent to us. You can also change settings from inside the Studio: choose the gear “Settings” in the left rail, or the ••• menu and then Settings.

7. Where your data is processed

DeepSeek’s privacy policy names Hangzhou DeepSeek Artificial Intelligence Co., Ltd., with its registered address in China, and says it collects, processes and stores personal data in the People’s Republic of China. Do not send anything to it that you would not want processed there. For EU-only processing, choose Mistral for text.
